La façade de Saint-Jean-de-Latran

La basilique Saint-Jean-de-Latran est la cathédrale de Rome, c'est le premier sanctuaire du Christianisme construit sur ce site, dès 312-313, par Constantin, le premier empereur romain devenu chrétien.

La façade actuelle de Saint-Jean-de-Latran a été réalisée par Alessandro Galilei entre 1732 et 1735 sous la papauté de Clément XII. Elle est surmontée de onze statues de saints entourant le Christ, de Saint-Jean-Baptiste et Saint-Jean-l'Evangéliste.

C'est l'une des quatre basiliques majeures de Rome.
