English: The Reception of the Rev. J. Williams, at Tanna, in the South Seas, the Day Before He Was Massacred.
  • A palm-fringed Tanna island with a mountain in the rear, in the colonial New Hebrides. The Rev. John Williams is stepping from a rowboat, surrounded by other Europeans, about to go ashore. On shore is a crowd of Vanuatuans in 1839.
