Description The site of Blythe Ferry at the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge in Meigs County, Tennessee, located in the southeastern United States. The ferry, situated near the confluence of the Hiwassee River and Tennessee River, attained notoriety in 1838 when it became a departure point for the Trail of Tears, in which thousands of Cherokees were forced to move west.
