Description
English: United States Democratic presidential ticket, 1864. Print shows a campaign banner, almost identical to the "Grand National Union Banner" (no. 1864-13) except for the inclusion of portraits of Democratic candidates George B. McClellan and George H. Pendleton, two additional flags above the portraits, and a vignette below of a busy harbor near a shore crowded with signs of prosperity, including factories, a locomotive, and a hay-wain. Also introduced in this version are clasped hands below the portraits. 1 print on wove paper : lithograph with watercolor ; image 32.5 x 22.6 cm. Candidates were selected at the 1864 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
