I feel like this article should be renamed, and have a redirect from Fox and Sac and Fox. The only group to still refer to this tribe as the Sac and Fox are the BIA. They call themselves the Meskwaki and call their settlement the Meskwaki Nation. Kaibab 03:36, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It has been 4 years since Kaibab suggested renaming the article "Meskwaki", and no opposition has been voiced. I agree with Kaibab, Meskwaki is the name they call universally themseleves, and the name they used prior to the French calling them Renards. (However, Sac and Fox should remain a seperate entry, since this is the joint term used by the Feds, rightly or wrongly, to refer to the Sauk and Meskwaki, as described on that page.) So, any objections for changing Fox (tribe) to Meskwaki? If there is no opposition, I will make the change in a week. Thanks, Bill Whittaker (talk) 13:30, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The language and sourcing on this page are extremely bad and need an overhaul. As an example, “The King of France signed a decree commanding the complete extermination of the Meskwaki, the only edict of its kind in French history.” There is no sourcing here and it’s extremely vague.

Secondly, it is not the role of Wikipedia to moralize history. Sentences such this, “The Meskwaki and Sac were forced to leave their territory by land-hungry American settlers,” do not require descriptive adjectives. It is enough to simply state the fact that American settlers forced them from their land.

The article is littered with similar cases but these two were especially egregious to my eyes.

I won’t make the edits myself because the sourcing would require a huge amount of editing and changing the tone could easily upset someone and cause it to be reverted but I’ll still mention it for posterity. 2601:8C0:B85:5C0:2062:D8D6:30D1:DDC3 (talk) 20:50, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
