Summary

Description
English: St Swithin's church - stained glass. Depicting the symbol of the Holy Trinity; in chancel south window. The chancel is dated by the C12 pillar piscina; the nave and the long south transept - making the church L-shaped > 893531 - 893547 - date from the 13th century; the tower was added a century later. The church > 893331 - 893542 - 893553 was rebuilt and restored in the 18th and 19 centuries but has retained its C14 font > 893554. The stained glass windows are C19 - the east window > 893544 was made by Alexander Gibbs and the south transept windows > 893549 - 893550 are by William Wailes. The grass in the eastern and northern sections of the churchyard has not been cut and conceals an a 13th century stone coffin lid. The church is kept locked but a key is available on request.
