6-6 CAV

Prior to becoming an OH-58D squadron at Fort Drum, 6th Squadron was an AH-64D Squadron in Germany. I ran across them at LSA Anaconda in Iraq, late 2003, despite globalsecurity.org's questioning of their deployment to Kuwait.[1] (Born2flie 04:57, 21 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]

My dad was in the USAF and he always admired them and their history. Dad went into the USAF (basically) before they were officially the USAF. He insisted at the end of WWII (1946 at Ft. Leavenworth). That was the first time he could sign up because of his age.

The information I'm looking for is even older than that, however. One of my husband's ancestors was the Regimental Surgeon of the 6th Mounted Cavalry Malitia Unit (Union) at the Battle of Wilson's Creek in 1861 the Civil War. He was a 1st Lt and he was a Volunteer from down in the Walnut Grove, MO area. I can find general information about the 6th, but nothing more specific. (He was also the chaplain.)

If you can send me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Civil War Combat Action

This is a little long for the article and confusing because it does not mention campaigns they were part of. Jrcrin001 (talk) 22:41, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
