Lack

I noticed there is an overall lack in the conversation of the duality needed to be intersectional this information is personal but i feel like it is important to understand these members of the black community. James Baldwin and Laveren Cox both have writing on these and this something I might edit later. but i think overall we should be looking and including this information. to paint a more full picture of these — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donwashington38 (talk • contribs) 19:30, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why you did not talk about the hardship that the Transgender in the black community face from outsiders and their own? This article need to discuss how it is harder on women because they already have three strikes against them, first being a woman, second being black and third being homosexual. Also discuss how black men have it bad also because people treat them less of a man and it already is hard for black men to be recognized. Please correct the information regarding the number of black men infected with HIV versus black LGBT men infected with HIV. Those are two different statistic percentages. Review the CDC source you provided for more clarification on the information. Jourdan.barnes (talk) 18:34, 19 October 2016 (UTC) Jourdan Barnes (talk)[reply]

You have great coverage, one thing you could add to health disparities is the coronavirus. African Americans have a harder time accessing treatment and they are more likely to have some pre-existing conditions such as asthma which would only worsen the virus.Summer254 (talk) 07:01, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Potential Updates

Hello! I'm interested in potentially updating this page and currently considering the following changes:

  • Expand the state legislature section to include information on all 50 states.
  • Add a section on intersectionality
    • Move the economic disparities section to be included in intersectionality and expand the economic disparities section to include information on African-American LGBT individuals compared to non-POC LGBT individuals.
    • Add a section on religion and LGBT identity in African American culture.
    • Add a section on educational disparities faced by African American LGBT individuals with separate sub-sections on K-12, undergraduate, and graduate levels.
    • Add a section on workplace discrimination faced by African American LGBT individuals.
    • Add a section on violence and microaggressions directed at African American LGBT individuals by both heterosexual groups and homosexual non-POC groups.
    • Expand the health disparities section to include community and public health as well as more chronic diseases with significant disparities.

I have some of the sources I plan on drawing from listed on my user page as well. Please let me know your thoughts on these potential changes! 19jshi (talk) 16:56, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Cardi B off this list

Why is Cardi B featured on this list when she is not African American? Self-proclaimed African American identity is not grounds for being considered African American. She would best be put on lists featuring Dominican-Americans or Hispanic Americans. Mikalestat (talk) 17:16, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
