Hi, in Law enforcement in France you replaced "royal polices" with "royal police". It seems that each of the two kings of Futuna has a chief of police (which would mean there are two royal LEAs, or three if we add the king of Wallis, hence the plural), but I don't know if it's only an administrative title (in French law, "police" sometimes refers only to the fact of issuing administrative regulations) or if these chiefs also have law enforcement officers (I read that the local newspapers was raided by the police of the king of Wallis). Please tell me if you have more information. Thanks. Apokrif 13:41, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Median (disambiguation)

It seems to me that the Biblical sense of Median (the 3rd entry) is the same as the second sense of Median on the disambiguation page -- namely the Iranian people south of the Caspian that Cyrus captured in 550 BC. Is there a difference that I'm not aware of? Thanks, --jonsafari 01:58, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copy and paste move

Hello, Tomtom9041. Please do not copy and paste articles, like Spanish Legion, to move them. There is a move function at the top of the page. If a page already exists at the new name, you must make a move request. Copy and paste moves split the history of articles and they are difficult to repair. Thank you, Kjkolb 05:04, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tom could you please discuss on talk page before adding tags (i've deleted it as it makes articles look unprofessional). For your info Dr Rice has repeatedly admitted the process of Extraordinary rendition, she just claims that the victims of this are not tortured. Alleged has no place in this article, except when applied to specific cases that are ongoing with possible legal action.Hypnosadist 19:39, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Soviet imitations

I was very interested to see your list of Cold War imitations, a subject which fascinates me too. However, how many of these are parallel developments, I wonder? Certainly there are similarities between the Soviet Encyclopedia and Britannica, but they themselves are influenced/derived from elsewhere anyway (Britannica being based in Scotland originally), especially the French encyclopedia of the 18th century. Buran certainly looked like the American space shuttle, but I gather had some very different features. The "Concordski", on the other hand, looks and sounds very much like a clone. Nor was the influence entirely one way...

There is one other subject that I have brought up elsewhere, and never received a decent answer to. I have heard that the Soviets also developed an Internet of sorts, whether by direct imitation or simply by parallel thinking. Every time I have tried to find something out about this, I hit brick walls. I presume it was kept mainly under wraps, and used a very different operating system.

Guarda Nacional Republicana

Hi,
I noticed that you moved the page Republican National Guard to Portuguese National Republican Guard by copy-pasting its content. While I don't have anything against the title change, I have something against the method that you used. Because it didn't moved the original page's history along with the content. I would like to ask you to fix this, one way could be by requesting the deletion of the article Portuguese National Republican Guard, and then by moving Republican National Guard to the new title using MediaWiki's moving feature.

Also, I would like you to know that the GNR isn't a branch of the Portuguese Armed Forces.
Thank you for your help solving this.
Best regards, Get_It 04:02, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to their official website — GNR, A GNR, Historial:
That is, in peacetime the GNR depends on the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI) for recruitment, administration and execution of their general mission, and also depends on the Ministry of National Defence for the uniformity of the military doctrine, armament and equipment. And, only, in wartime or in the case of a crisis situation the GNR will be under the command of the Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces. Has you can see this does not make them a branch of the Armed Forces.
Best regards, Get_It 15:43, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding the USCG, it's not the same thing. It seems that the nearest thing to have the same status as the GNR is the Spanish Guardia Civil.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Narcotics Control Bureau, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://indiaimage.nic.in/ceib/ncb.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. Speedy deletion of Narcotics Control Bureau

A tag has been placed on Narcotics Control Bureau, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD g12.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. ViperSnake151 00:02, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GFDL

Hi when you copy some text from a wikipedia project, as you did from the French wikipedia when creating Mobile Gendarmerie, you must give attribution in the edit summary. Also remember if you like you can ask for proof reading of your translation, especially if you used software to translate, as it is many cases incomprehensible. If you don't say where the article came from originally and leave incomprehensible sentences then it becomes more difficult for people to correct them. Jackaranga 09:04, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. A user category that you are in has been proposed for deletion at Wikipedia:User categories for discussion. You are welcome to comment. Cheers! bd2412 T 02:22, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're in the category, Category:Deist Wikipedians. The category is tied to the userbox - having the userbox puts you in it, so (in theory) others with an interest in Deism or a question about the substance of related articles will know where to find you, as you might know something about the topic. That is one of a bunch of categories that has been nominated for deletion in a mass nomination regarding all theological positions. Cheers again! bd2412 T 03:00, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
These mass nominations have been started by some other editors - with whom I happen to disagree - at Wikipedia:User categories for discussion#Singular theological belief. That userbox on your user page that says "This user is interested in Deism" puts you in that category. I felt that it would be appropriate to let people in the category know that it was being considered for deletion. bd2412 T 03:14, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Earth Force (Environmental group) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Carados (talk) 17:38, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

History of the sheriff

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article History of the sheriff, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of History of the sheriff. AfD nomination of Robert Morning Sky

An editor has nominated Robert Morning Sky, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 00:44, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spaceship Moon

I've opened a discussion for this subject at Talk:Moon. Given the controversial nature, it is appropriate to seek consensus for inclusion first rather than just restoring the material. Thanks. --Ckatzchatspy 18:06, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please see my reply at Talk:Moon. Let's try and resolve this without disrupting the article, and approach it realistically. The "theory" is not a generally accepted one, and the concept of a "hollow moon" is discredited by science. Given the fringe nature of this, then, you are far more likely to find that the text will "stick" if you can build a solid case for inclusion, and convince others of it, before repeatedly trying to insert it. Cheers. --Ckatzchatspy 09:33, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cut-and-paste moves

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently copied the contents of a page and pasted it into another with a different name. Specifically, you copied the contents of Marine (military) This is what we call a "cut and paste move", and it is very undesirable because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. The mechanism we use for renaming articles is to move it to a new name which both preserves the page's history and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves to request the move by another. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. - BillCJ (talk) 19:57, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. - BillCJ (talk) 07:12, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Enfant terrible

I notice that you've added content maintaining that the term enfant terrible originated with Thomas Jefferson. Given that Websters only traces this term back to 1851, and Jefferson died in 1826, it would be useful if you could supply sources to back up your additions. Moreover, the move from enfant terrible to l'enfant terrible is poorly motived. Websters doesn't even carry an entry on l'enfant terrible, only enfant terrible. The article was in the right place at enfant terrible.

Thanks for uploading Image:RightRearViewM1009CUCV.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. — dαlus Contribs /Improve 17:07, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Zorg ZF-1

I have nominated Zorg ZF-1, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zorg ZF-1. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. I've never edited this page. A User:THEunique, who I have been monitoring, has edited this page, but I haven't I don't know why you are taking to me about it. Thegreyanomaly (talk) 05:20, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He has continually been making POV edits to Pakistan related articles without citations. I told him to stop, he ignored my comment, he blanked his talk page, I told him to not ignore me, he blanked his page again, and he continued making similar edits on different pages. Proposed deletion of Punitive balance

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Punitive balance, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. // Chris (complaints)(contribs) 03:04, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Moustafa Gadalla. Thank you. // Chris (complaints)(contribs) 03:05, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

December 2008

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from New York City Police Department. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. MOOOOOPS (talk) 21:17, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Texas Rangers Division. Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Newguy34 (talk) 02:31, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think the information you added about the "Duties" of a Ranger is very good and well referenced. I have slightly reorganized the article to combine like information and to follow a more natural progressive timeline. Newguy34 (talk) 03:18, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AFD notice

Hi - please do not remove AFD notices from article, I understand that feelings can run high but once the process is started the notice should not be removed until the process has completed and the community has spoken. If you do remove the notice again, it is likely you will be blocked for disruption. --Cameron Scott (talk) 19:20, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea - I'm not involved in the AFD - a quick look suggests that the nominator feels that it is indiscriminate. Some articles get nom'd a number of times. --Cameron Scott (talk) 19:28, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey TT, I had to revert your removal of the tag. Although the nomination for deletion is unfortunate, we have to follow the rules. Also, removing the deletion tag does not effect the deletion discussion and the possibility for deletion. The discussion continues at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Roof knocking whether the tag is on the article or whether it isn't. If you would like that the article not be deleted then say so at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Roof knocking. Best,--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 14:09, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

When editing highly active pages such as 2008–2009 Israel–Gaza conflict, please use edit summaries so that users can tell at a glance what changes you have made. When the page is being edited so frequently, keeping track of edits becomes difficult without summaries. Thanks, Oren0 (talk) 18:18, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article List of ambulance manufacturers has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

per WP:NOTLINK, WP:SPAM

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Orphaned non-free media (File:Philippine Constabulary logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Philippine Constabulary logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:02, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice that Egyptian National Police, a page that you created, has been tagged for deletion. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It appears to be a test page. (See section G2 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do, and take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Non-free rationale for File:Warminster Township seal.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Warminster Township seal.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
