To discuss Angola without pointing out the discrepancy between the country's massive oil income and the poverty of its people, and then to suggest possible explanations for this, is to leave the history unbalanced and misleading. I edited it today to mention these issues and that the money may have gone into the pockets of the MPLA elite, as the dogs in the street know. The line about all the country's ills being due to colonialism and war is the standard defence offered by the government and its friends, but it should be identified as such. However, not having at present facts to back this up, I won't revert the reversion!

Also, anyone with information about the Nito Alves attempted coup of 27 May 1977 should add something about that.

Sorry about anonymity. I might need to get a visa!
