Too big

Are wards the best way to break down this list? The problem is that ward boundaries are redrawn after each census. That's a potential maintenance nightmare where different artworks will have to be moved from list to list as boundaries change. Also, no one outside DC has any familiarity with which ward is where. Few people inside DC know anything besides their own ward, if that. Using quadrants would solve this problem but NW would probably have the vast majority of the list. Ideas and thoughts

Hi everyone. I'd love to hear thoughts and ideas on how to wikify this page to make it more relevant. I have yet to write a blurb for the stop, I'm trying to tweak the other pages content before doing that. I also worked for quite sometime to put this list together, and was weary to publish it (it's been on my userpage for 2 months) due to retaliation or criticism by people who might not be familiar with the mission of projects like Wikipedia Saves Public Art. I'd love to have this be part of the GLAM movement, but, I'm not so sure if it could be. The idea of using Wards seemed only natural when so many of the neighborhoods seemed to blend into one another in many areas. As stated above, the original DC List page with all the Wards on one page was huge, and caused problems for me every time I tried to update it after it reached a certain KB. This is my first time building a list, so, I look forward to any ideas, advice or thoughts on beautifying, and wikifying this project. Thanks. Missvain (talk) 19:40, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose, having a separate index by medium for the whole District is a helpful aid to readers so they don't have to click through eight separate articles. Additionally, this list of public art is subdivided by ward, which I'd guess most residents are not even familiar enough with to know the borders of the whole ward system. postdlf (talk) 22:19, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - Not all outdoor sculpture is public art. Many outdoor sculptures are held in private collections. Some public art is located in indoor environments. (I'm sorry I missed the NYC merger discussion, would have voted oppose there as well). Netherzone (talk) 00:44, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose I concur - not all outdoor sculpture is public art, as Netherzone suggested. Murals, installations (like Yoko Ono's Wish Tree for Washington, DC), etc. I think this article should be expanded to discuss the history of outdoor sculpture in Washington, and cleaned up to perhaps better highlight core sculptures, etc. Missvain (talk) 18:58, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
