Requesting Edits / Conflict of Interest

Hello Wikipedians ~

I am an unpaid volunteer with the South Carolina State Guard and therefore have a conflict of interest when updating this page. I am also a novice with Wikipedia and I am hoping someone would help me update things. I was asked to Update the South Carolina State Guard Wikipedia page to reflect that there was a change of command and a new commander and command staff.

In the Box on the right, the new Commander of the State Guard should by MG Leon L.Lott [1]

His Command Staff is listed in the SCSG Organizational chart and Includes his Deputy Commander BG Michael Langston and CSM Buddy Seay: [2]

Moreover, the Logo for the South Carolina State Guard is not the Logo shown in the Box on the Right. The Logo it reflected on the website: [3] -- and is specifically linked to on the website under personnel: [4]

I was also hoping to update the Introduction Paragraph because the Organization is not setup like it is listed. The Appropriate organization is located at: [5] and again in an Organizational Chart:[6]

Intro Paragraph:

he State Guard maintains its headquarters in Columbia, SC. Battalions are located in the cities of Columbia (1st Midlands Battalion), Charleston (3rd Coastal Battalion), and Fountain Inn (2nd Highland Battalion). The Professional Services Command, including the Judge Advocate General section, Medical Detachment, Provost Marshal Command, Engineering Detachment, Search and Rescue Command (SARCOM), and Chaplains Corp are located at the State Guard HQ in Columbia along with the Chief of Staff Command consisting of the Cyber Security, Communications & Electronic Section, Business Development Section, and Public Affairs."

We just want the information listed to be as accurate as is practicable. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Making edits to the article first and then opening an edit request template is a bit like putting the cart before the horse. If you've decided to unilaterally make these edits against Wikipedia's advice for COI editor's not to directly edit themselves[a], then you've already answered your own request. Notes

  1. ^ This guidance is posted, among other locations, at the top of this talk page just above the COI editor's disclosure.

Requesting Edits / Conflict of Interest

I appreciate the help with edits. Yes, I originally made edits and THEN was informed that I should not make edits because of the conflict of interest. So I stopped edits and then placed all the requests into a single edit request. I believed that that was the proper course of action: Stop and follow the Rules. I apologize if that action was not appropriate. I better understand the system now. And THANK YOU for fixing the logo.

Very much appreciate your help

Edit Request

Hello Wikipedia Guru's

I am an unpaid volunteer with the South Carolina State Guard and thus have a conflict of interest with editing. On the information box on the right hand side of the SCSG page, the Commander is listed as Major General Leon L. Lott. His actual rank is Brigadier General - 1 Star as is verifiable on his page: [1]

I am requesting assistance with editing the box to change Major General to Brigadier General.

Thank you for your Assistance!
