The 2024 United States Senate election in Vermont will be held on November 5, 2024, to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the state of Vermont. Primary elections will take place on August 13, 2024.[1] Incumbent three-term Senator Bernie Sanders, who is an independent but caucuses with the Democratic Party, was re-elected with 67% of the vote in 2018.
Sanders has not yet announced whether he will seek re-election; in 2019, he filed paperwork to run in 2024,[2] but as of January 8, 2024, he stated he would decide whether or not to seek re-election in the "near future."[3] Sanders did not announce his plans to run for re-election in 2018 until May of that year.[4]
No Democrat has ever won this Class 1 Senate seat.
