Muy alta e yllustre magestad

Saberá tu alta magestad como somos llegado diez e ocho onbres solamente con una de las çinco naos que tu alta magestad enbió en descubrimiento de la Espeçiaría con el capitánFernando de Magalasque santa gloria aya, e porque tu alta magestad sea servide[¿servida o sabedora?] de las cosas prinçipalque avemos pasado brevemente escrivo aquellas e digo:

Primeramente llegamos en cincoenta e quatro grados a la parte del sur de la líneaequinoçial donde fallamos estrecho que pasan al Mar del Sur de las Yndias e Tierra Firme de tu Magestad, el qual estrecho es de çien leguas por donde desbocamos y entienpo de tres meses e veynte dias llevando próspero viento no fallamos tierra ningunasino dos yslas despobladas e pequeñas. E después dimos en un arçipiélagode muchas yslas muy ricas de oro e falleçiéndonos el capitán Fernandode Malagascon otros muchos, por no poder navegar con las tres naves por la pocagente que quedamos, desfesimosuna nao e con las dos navegamos de ysla en ysladescobrien[do]fasta llegar con la ayuda de Dios a la ysla de Malaco. Y esto fue después de la muerte de Fernando deMalaco[¿sic por Magalas?]ocho meses donde cargamos las dos naos de clavo.
