Summary

This photo, taken in August, 2010, shows the hardened entrance of the bunker for the telephone switchboard that served the fort and the Harbor Defense Command . The brick structure-within-a-structure characteristic of such bunkers can be seen in the shadows above the white tank. There was no access (other than cable runs) between this bunker and the other underground portions of the mortar batteries. The bunker is now used by the Town of Winthrop for storage.
