See alsos

An IP editor has been adding the following "See also" links to the article:

As is obvious if you read the article, the articles Republican Jewish Coalition, Marc R. Stanley, and Cameron Kerry are already linked in the article. Per WP:SEEALSO, Links already included in the body of the text are generally not repeated in "See also". For that reason, I've also just removed the "See also" links to American Jews, Democratic National Committee, and Democratic Party, since they're also already linked in the article. As for the rest, what is their specific relevance to this article? Jayjg (talk) 04:34, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I realize that the article contains those links. That was my mistake I should have realized that they did not need to be added to the "see also." The other additions are topics relating to the NJDC and their cause. Thank you for your help with editing this page. I have made the proper adjustments. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jc112588nj (talk • contribs) 15:43, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

a) Democratic National Committee is already linked in the article. Please don't put it in a See also again.
b) Please show the relationship between the topic of this article and AIPAC, List of Jewish American politicians, Zionist Organization of America, and J Street
Do not re-add the See alsos; instead explain, here, why you think they are related. Jayjg (talk) 23:44, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AIPAC, ZOA, and J Street are all Israel advocacy groups, as is the NJDC. The NJDC supports Israel and often rallies Jewish democrats to write their congressman and President Obama about Israel. I feel these organizations are related. I feel the relevance "list of jewish american politicians" is fairly self-evident. If you do not agree with me about these, maybe you could make some suggestions as to what to include in the "see also" section of the article. Thanks. I am also not sure how to "sign" on this page, could you explain? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.133.229.226 (talk) 23:57, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the NJDC is an organization that promotes closer ties between American Jews and the Democratic Party. It happens to support Israel as well, as do many organizations, including the Democratic Party itself, but that is not its main purpose. I do not understand how the List of Jewish American politicians is relevant to this article, perhaps you could explain, beyond "fairly self-evident". Also, please show specific links between AIPAC, Zionist Organization of America, and J Street and the National Jewish Democratic Council. Finally, to sign, you include four tildes at the end of your comment, like so: ~~~~ Jayjg (talk) 20:24, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Israel is clearly a high priority for the NJDC, and I think its important that we link this page to other organizations who share this cause. Sure the democratic party may support Israel, but I don't think you can compare that to an organization such as the National JEWISH Democratic Council. If you go to their website or read the actual article on this page, you would see that Israel is a priority. As you said, the organization promotes closer ties between American Jews and the Democratic Party, therefore I think the "list of American Jewish politicians" is closely related and very relevant. I mean, it seems fairly obvious why these are under "see also" and I am not sure exactly why there is a problem. Again, If you do not agree with me about these, maybe you could make some suggestions as to what to include in the "see also" section of the article. I still don't understand how to sign. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.9.226.228 (talk) 13:06, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Israel is one issue of importance to the NJDC. It is an issue of importance to many organizations, including the Democratic party. Regarding the rest, please articulate the specific relationship between the NJDC and these other groups. By the way, a well written article typically not need any "See also" sections, since all relevant information will have been linked in the article itself. Finally, to sign, use four tildes at the end of your comment, thus: ~~~~ The tilde is a symbol you can find on your keyboard. Jayjg (talk) 03:51, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have articulated the specific relationship several times. I have been looking around Wikipedia though and the majority of articles I have seen do have a "see also" section. Clearly you won't allow the articles I believe to be clearly relevant, so it would be nice if you offered a suggestion or two. Thank you. <jc112588>147.9.228.222 (talk) 17:00, 7 April 2009 (UTC)<jc112588>[reply]

They're Jewish, American, and they support Israel? Thousands of organizations have those characteristics. Please articulate a specific link between these groups; not just "I think they're similar". As for the majority of articles having a "See also" section, the sections are there because editors have not yet written the material linking the "See also" links to the topic of the article. In this case, I don't see an actual link though, and you haven't been able to show any sources linking them. Jayjg (talk) 02:14, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thousands of organizations? I think there are a good amount of political organizations that share Israel as a top priority, and they should be linked to each other. If there are not direct links with references, "see also" links are an easy way to link these articles. I have been all around Wikipedia and many many articles have "see also" sections. These "see also" sections do not require references, because, as you said it is just to show there is a link and there haven't been links made in the article. I feel that there should be a "see also" on this page, and if you are unable to see the clear links that I have made, I think it would be fair to add a suggestion or two. Thank you. 67.133.229.226 (talk) 16:51, 13 April 2009 (UTC)jc11258867.133.229.226 (talk) 16:51, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
