Most haunted village?

According to Maynard,C;1977;"World of Unknown";Usborne Publishing

Pluckley is claimed as being one of the most haunted villages in England.

Can someone confirm this from other sources?

Pluckley was in the Guinness Book of World Records a few years back as the most haunted village in the world. But I have no idea if it is still recognised as such. --Ukdan999 11:04, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I lived in Kent and in my youth read an awful lot about, and did a lot of investigation in, Pluckley, because of its reputation for being haunted. I never saw any evidence of ghosts while there (but I am ambivalent about their existence). What really does worry me is that the ghost stories (and I think the parish website may be partially to blame) have been embellished and added to and otherwise changed in the past 40 years. Someone buried in 7 coffins and an oak sarcophagus? Where did that nonsense come from?

Somehow this has to be re-written to just include the original stories - sadly, these are a bit sketchy - but probably more representative for that reason.

I concur - the stories have been much embellished since the 1970s when I used to do the same sort of investigation.Plingsby (talk) 15:44, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Attractions/Advertising

The "attractions" section contains no actual attractions at all, just publicity for local companies. Surely this is (a) non-notable (or particularly noteworthy) and (b) advertising. Wikipedia cannot have room for every small business associated with a town or village to be listed.Plingsby (talk) 15:42, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
