Do we have an announcement from the team regarding Yaro signing for the first team? He appears to be included in the roster listing for all of the team's new signings, but I wasn't able to find a club announcement for his signing. Jay eyem (talk) 19:16, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a link that mentions he's signed. (doesn't say when, but confirms he did). RedPatch (talk) 01:34, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Lol yup, saw that yesterday. Was wondering for a while where the announcement was because MLS kept mentioning that he had been signed but nothing had been released. Looks good now. Jay eyem (talk) 18:46, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Rivalry and nickname sections

@MasqueOfMagnus: wanted to message you here to discuss some of the changes you were making since I think some of them were worth discussing. The citations you were adding to the main body of the page all looked good, but there were a couple of other things that I think were worth pointing out. The first is the addition of the nickname. The source you provided doesn't establish a nickname, and in fact is pretty explicit in saying that a nickname had yet to be chosen. It may take some time for one to be established, but I don't think there are enough reliable sources that establish a nickname. The other are your additions to the rivalry section. A lot of your additions don't really have anything to do with the team itself and discusses more broadly a rivalry between St. Louis and Kansas City. Part of the issue is that one of them is heavily reliant on a primary source (i.e. SKC's website), and we need reliable secondary sources. It also needs to be relevant here: the Billikens ten titles don't have anything to do with a rivalry between these two teams, and we are going to need more than a tourism page to discuss KC's claim to a "soccer capital of the US". Again, early days for the team, but a lot of the changes are just not relevant here. Jay eyem (talk) 22:23, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thanks for the feedback! I'm just beginning on my Wikipedia journey, so I appreciate the feedback. I don't necessarily disagree with you on a lot of this (I do think that Ravioli Boyz is relevant, but I do agree it could be in a different section about culture, for instance).
Would it be possible to add back some of these edits? For instance, I do think it is absolutely relevant that "soccer capital" is a debate, considering that recent events are bringing that into light. I did not know that about secondary sources, but understood! I'll continue to look for those and add those in.
I do disagree that "a rivalry between St. Louis and Kansas City" more broadly does not belong in the article - the Sporting KC wikipedia entry contains sections for each rivalry the team has, for example. MasqueOfMagnus (talk) 22:32, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure about the recent events to which you are referring regarding the "soccer capital" bit, I didn't see anything when I searched the term in Google so you will have to be more specific on that for me (and remember, we are looking for reliable sources). Regarding SKC's Wikipedia page, the rivalry section does discuss each rivalry in relation to another team rather than the other city (and frankly, that page could use some cleaning up as well). They have the benefit of being around for several more years, however, and are naturally going to have a longer history section when it comes to rivalries, but that will likely change with time. I am not saying that a rivalry between the cities cannot be on the page, but it needs reliable secondary coverage that's relevant to the subject discussing it i.e. the soccer teams themselves. The one citation I saw that you provided was discussing previous indoor teams that didn't really have anything to do with these two teams in addition to being a primary source, which is the reason I removed that, but I think there is some merit to discussing whatever rivalry exists between these two cities. Frankly I think that belongs in an article on a rivalry between the two teams themselves, but it is WAY too early for that. If you can find secondary sources discussing the soccer history between the two cities I think that could be included. Jay eyem (talk) 23:50, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
