I can see the term mixed-orientation marriage applying in a same sex marriage if 1 spouse is heterosexual and the other is homosexual, but if both members are heterosexual then it would seem inappropriate because they they share the same orientation. What term would you use there? Ranze (talk) 09:54, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Does that exist? Two straight men marrying each other? 2607:FEA8:1DDF:FEE1:B4A0:4EB6:6727:FD42 (talk) 19:21, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge from Lavender marriage

ClockC I'm proposing that Lavender marriage be merged into the section on this article at Mixed-orientation marriage#Lavender marriage. This is because the article on lavender marriage doesn't go much further in explaining what it is than the section currently on this article, and I feel the remaining info could easily be merged into this article (quite a lot of the separate article is currently just listing people who were/are in lavender marriages). Furthermore, I'm not 100% convinced that there is actually that much of a difference between the two topics that separate articles are actually necessary or useful. • Oppose. This is a distinct topic which comes from closeted people, not just opposite sex people, getting married to fool their families, friends, and the public.
It’s only recently that LGBTQ marriages have become legal and accepted in many countries, yet loads of people remain in the closet for a variety of reasons.
This article could, and should, be expanded, not truncated in any way or merged. Gleeanon409 (talk) 08:47, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This proposal doesn't have support so I'm going to remove the Merger tags. Liz Read! Talk! 05:10, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but I'll note here for posterity that Gleeanon409 was a sockpuppet. Crossroads -talk- 06:12, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Substantial revision (Feb 2022)

Hi world! I just substantially revised this article and explained my edits in my publish notes; a lot of info in the article was drawn from extremely outdated research studies from the 1980s and there were also some unsubstantiated statements. I've added updated info from more recent research studies. I also made edits to improve the page structure; there were previously a number of subsections in the "Marriage between homosexual and heterosexual partners" that didn't make a lot of sense -- I retained three of them as Heading 1 sections and deleted two subsections that didn't warrant inclusion as standalone sections. Finally, I deleted a references maintenance template because I believe I addressed it, and also deleted the "further reading" section because it consisted only of 4 sources published in the late 70s to early 90s that aren't relevant today (except perhaps as part of historical research). If you have any questions, disagree with any of my edits, or have further suggestions related to them, please let me know! RadicalCopyeditor (talk) 03:34, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
