Not a peninsula

Monterey is not a peninsula!!! User:71.129.29.145.

I don't know whether it is worth my time to repond to this but nevertheless, no the city of Monterey is not a peninsula. The city is actually only in part located on the Peninsula, most prominently, Cannery Row and New Monterey as well as Spagetthi Hill and of course DLI. There is a Peninsula it includes the part of the city proper I mentioned above as well as the city of Pacific Grove and the community of Pebble Beach. Otherwise please refer to a map. Monterey Peninsula metro area population

There doesn't seem to be a formal one, or for Greater Monterey. The best info I could find was that the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, California -- which includes all of the metro area including Marina, Seaside, Del Rey Oaks, and other inland suburbs, was 90,113 people in 33,329 households, as of 2010 census?? https://statisticalatlas.com/school-district/California/Monterey-Peninsula-Unified-School-District/Overview -- see the map. Note that the MPUSD abuts the Salinas Metro area. Also note that the MPUSD does NOT include Pacific Grove USD (pop 18,304 ) or Carmel USD (pop 22,950)

So the total pop for the 3 school districts for Metro Monterey is 131,367. No date that I've found (yet). Compare to Salinas USD pop: 172,572. And note that Salinas City population is given as 150,441 (2016 est). Salinas doesn't seem to be in a formal metro area either. Odd.

Also note the striking large subdivision developments inland of marina, & to a lesser extent, Seaside. And the truly awful rush-hour traffic jams along Hiway 68. --Pete Tillman (talk) 01:47, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Note that these pop numbers are from the Statistical Atlas of the United States, a private venture using US Census info https://statisticalatlas.com/about . Salinas "Metro" appears to be Monterey County: https://statisticalatlas.com/metro-area/California/Salinas/Population, total pop est 420,569 in 125,428 households. Compare to the 2016 estimates for Monterey County, also from US Census Bureau: 435,232. So unclear what's going on. --Pete Tillman (talk) 02:01, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A full California map would be helpful

A full map of California, showing where the peninsula is located in the state, would be very helpful for people who don't already know where it is. —38.49.92.241 (talk) 12:36, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
