the name

So, the official name of "Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone" seems to indicate that "Sandstone" is a local area, and that this theater is not necessarily built of sandstone? --Jerome Potts (talk) 23:33, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia uses the most commonly used name rather than the official name. In this case Sandstone Amphitheater is still commonly used. Major media outlets such as the Kansas City Star still refer to the venue only as Sandstone Amphitheater. Here's an article from yesterday that will back that up: http://www.kansascity.com/2011/04/25/2826540/kanrocksas-music-festival-in-kck.html BlueGold73 (talk) 13:02, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

List of events

I am going to remove this list, as in violation of multiple Wikipedia policies and guidelines. It is entirely unsourced, ridiculously overdetailed, and contrary to MOS:COLLAPSE guidelines - it impairs accessibility to readers with limited limited CSS or JavaScript support. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and as such summarises significant facts regarding subject matter - it does not purport to give a complete listing of every event that ever occurred at a venue, any more that it would report every article printed in a magazine, or every book held in a library. If there is significant coverage of a particular event held at the Amphitheater, as described in third-party published reliable sources, actually saying something of significance about the Amphitheater itself rather than the event, it may be appropriate to include material on that particular event as prose, but otherwise, I suggest that such details belong solely on the website for the Amphitheater. Azura AmphitheaterSandstone AmphitheaterWP:COMMONNAME Well documented that this location is still known by locals primarily as Sandstone and that the repeated name changes are something of a local joke.[1][2][3][4] Sandstone receives 90 direct links, while Azura receives 39 direct links. There have been 3 name changes during the life of Wikipedia (each requiring moves and leaving orphaned redirects), and the management of the naming rights don't indicate this won't continue to be the situation indefinitely. Agree. This sillyness will continue for many venues, thus Wikipedia should use the original common names for these types of articles, then use redirects for the temporary short term name. • SbmeirowTalk • 18:44, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
