Description Detail of Henry Timberlake's 1765 "Draught of the Cherokee Country," showing the location and layout of the Cherokee town of Tallassee. The Tallassee site is now submerged under Chilhowee Lake on the border between modern-day Monroe County and Blount County, Tennessee, in the southeastern United States. The Calderwood area is now situated along the shoreline above the site.
