If this Movie is really in the Public domain we might include the Download Link to archive.org in this Article. But im not sure if this Video is really free from all copyrights, perhaps someone else knows more ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.159.179.8 (talk) 23:16, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's a myth that it's public domain. As a British film, it is protected by UK copyright for 70 years after the last to die of the writer/s, director, or composer. Stanislaw Szmajzner, Georges Delerue, Reginald Rose, Jack Gold, and Thomas Blatt are all now dead (the last two only last year), but Richard Rashke is still alive, so copyright cannot expire before the end of 2086 at the earliest. Even if once deemed PD in the States on a technicality, it will have had the copyright restored under GATT. Nick Cooper (talk) 13:13, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

how can they do this?

I dont understand how anyone can make a film with scenes like this. What is the smoke supposed to be? And, why is it SO wrong to defame the Jews, but it's perfectly acceptable to defame the Germans? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2606:A000:4A88:6F00:7CF7:53B0:3D2B:115F (talk) 11:30, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You seem very confused. Is it because you are very new to the holocaust subject matter? The smoke above the gas chamber building is supposed to symbolize engine exhaust, the agent used to exterminate Jews in Sobibor (and Belzec, and Treblinka). The huge trail of smoke and fire you see later in the movie, e.g. at night symbolizes the outdoor cremation pyres in the extermination section of the camp. Who is defaming Germans? Care to cite examples of any notable figure (rather than some oddball) doing this today? Villains in this movie are the SS Totenkopfverbände, ukrainian collaborators and some Jewish capos. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8388:502:3D80:6112:1C98:FCCD:192F (talk) 09:15, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gertrude Poppert (Luka) DOES have a Wikipedia page: how do I link it?

I just don't know how to make it link to this article https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gertrude_Poppert

Pre-empted?

I'm confused by the usage of the word in this sentence:

"The full 176-minute version shown in the UK[note 1] on 10 May 1987 was pre-empted by a 143-minute version shown in the United States on 12 April 1987."

Doesn't "pre-empt" mean to forestall, prevent, or interrupt and replace a scheduled broadcast programme?

"Preceded by" or "anticipated by," would be the more appropriate explanation, would it not? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2400:2411:1C1:C400:75FE:21EB:5F48:C98A (talk) 01:32, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
