Picture

Does anyone know where the picture used in the infobox was taken? Image:Canada 35 bg 061904.jpg. It is uploaded from pdphoto.org, but I couldn't find it there for getting extra info. I'm looking for a location more specific than "Banff National Park". Thanks. --Qyd 21:40, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This looks like it will add valuable content to the article. Regarding the headings, Wikipedia's style is to not use "The" to begin a section-title, only the first word is capitalized, and it should not refer redundantly to the subject of the article. So, "The Creation and Development of Canada's National Parks" → "Creation and development" maclean (talk) 15:59, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see, it should be like this then.

1. Creation and development

1.1. Tourism and commercialization

1.2 Conservation and back to nature movement

2. Conflicts of creations

2.1 Indigenous people

2.2 Resource development

2.3 Other conflicts (non-indigenous)

3. Changing values

3.1 Ecological integrity

3.2 "Co-management"

Lead

We (students working on this article) thought that the lead for this page needed some changes. We moved what were the bottom two paragraphs on the proposed future reserves and NMCA to their respective sections under "Adding to the System". The first paragraph of the lead uses language that is quite similar to the official line on the Parks Canada website. --Sarah.x.g (talk) 05:41, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Impact of recent student edits

This article has recently been edited by students as part of their course work for a university course. As part of the quality metrics for the education program, we would like to determine what level of burden is placed on Wikipedia's editors by student coursework.

If you are an editor of this article who spent time correcting edits to it made by the students, please . Please note that we are asking you to estimate only the negative effects of the students' work. If the students added good material but you spent time formatting it or making it conform to the manual of style, or copyediting it, then the material added was still a net benefit, and the work you did improved it further. If on the other hand the students added material that had to be removed, or removed good material which you had to replace, please let us know how much time you had to spend making those corrections. This includes time you may have spent posting to the students' talk pages, or to Wikipedia noticeboards, or working with them on IRC, or any other time you spent which was required to fix problems created by the students' edits. Any work you did as a Wikipedia Ambassador for that student's class should not be counted.

Please rate the amount of time spent as follows:

  • 0 -No unproductive work to clean up
  • 1 - A few minutes of work needed
  • 2 - Between a few minutes and half an hour of work needed
  • 3 - Half an hour to an hour of work needed
  • 4 - More than an hour of work needed

Please also add any comments you feel may be helpful. We welcome ratings from multiple editors on the same article. Thanks! -- LiAnna Davis (WMF) (talk) 20:41, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

National parks of CanadaNational Parks of Canada – I feel that this is the most common use of the term, and as I explained in the recent category discussion, Parks Canada uses "National Park of Canada" as a proper noun on their website. 117Avenue (talk) 04:46, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. "National Park" has a particular meaning that is different to the description "national park". The term is clearly a proper name for a class of wilderness reserves (not parks). --SmokeyJoe (talk) 01:36, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

National Park vs. National Park Reserve

The difference, or lack thereof, needs to be stated more clearly. ZFT (talk) 22:53, 21 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
