This article needs to cover such things as:

Wea are a sub-tribe of the Iliniwek, just as the Ojibwe are a subtribe of the Anishinaabeg. So, just as Anishinaabemowin would cover Ojibwemowin, Odaawaamowin, Boodewaadamiimowin, Nakawemowin and Odishkwaagamiimowin, the language of the Iliniwek would cover the Wea. I have removed the following section for lack of sources. Please do not readd the section without Reliable sources. (See WP:RS for what a reliable source is.) This edit is related to #2573241).

Ed Melton proved to himself to be related to the last chief of the tribe in Indiana and had already started gathering the history for many years prior so in 1994 he gathered relatives together for the first family reunion or what is now called the wea gathering. There they shared history, notes, genealogy and pictures. It was on March 15, 1995 after being urged, that he incorporated into a non profit Indian organization under, Wea Indian Tribe of Indiana, Inc. Ed passed away on September 11, 2001, but the Wea Indian Tribe of Indiana, Inc. continues and was reorganized in 2005 and is now headquartered in Clinton, Indiana.

A disagreement over electing an "acting" chief because of Mr. Melton's illness caused a group of relatives to splinter off in 2000. This group is the Wea Indian Tribe Incorporated located in Lafayette Indiana.
