Battle of Locust Grove

Běhařovice (Czech pronunciation: [ˈbjɛɦar̝ovɪtsɛ]) is a market town in Znojmo District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 400 inhabitants.

The villages of Ratišovice and Stupešice are administrative parts of Běhařovice.

Geography

Běhařovice is located about 16 kilometres (10 mi) north of Znojmo and 43 km (27 mi) southwest of Brno. It lies in the Jevišovice Uplands. The highest point is at 410 m (1,350 ft) above sea level.

History

The first written mention of Běhařovice is in a hoax from the 12th century, which mentions the year 1046.[2] Between 1528 and 1548, Běhařovice was promoted to a market town.[3]

Transport

There are no railways or major roads passing through the municipality.

Sights

The main landmark of Běhařovice is the Church of the Holy Trinity. It was built in the Renaissance style with Gothic elements in 1593–1596. In 1884, it was modified significantly and the tower was lowered.[6]
