Summary

Description
English: Optolyth Alpin 7×42 binoculars with the eyepieces resting on a rainguard all connected by a neck strap. Due to their modest magnification 7×42 binoculars offer an advantageous depth of field1, are compact for their relatively large exit pupil offering favorable low-light and rapid moving objects acquiring capability, and are appreciated for that by European hunters, deer stalkers and birders.

These Optolyth Alpin 7×42 lightweight binoculars were made in West Germany during the 1980s, had a 30-year warranty, and feature:

  • Ceralin multi-coating
  • Aluminum/magnesium light metal body
  • Non-slip rubber armor with ridges
  • Impact resistant mounted lenses and Porro-1 prisms
  • Eyepieces with fold down eye cups suitable for people who wear glasses
  • 7× magnification
  • 42 mm objective lenses
  • 6 mm exit pupil
  • 36 relative brightness index
  • 17.15 twilight factor
  • 115 m at 1,000 m / 6.56 degrees field of view
  • 565 g weight
1 The depth of field reduces quadratic with the magnification, for example 10× binoculars offer about half (7²/10² = 0.49) depth of field of 7× binoculars.
