Wouldn't it be simpler to just put the real numbers, or the names and vital info of the residents? As it stands, the section is almost comical. 67.10.175.242 11:39, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That was almost the same as I thought when reading it. I should say "personal" in stead of "vital" and skip "almost". Otto 11:51, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It appears to me that this IS comical and is deliberate....Someone is ghosting Sam. Dean —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.242.239.55 (talk) 11:51, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It should be noted that part of Florida, Missouri was moved during the construction of the Mark Twain Lake and Canon Dam, to make way for the normal flood pool when the lake was filled at the time the gates were closed in April 1983. The lake was completely filled to normal flood pool in fall of 1984. Had Florida been left as it was, it would have been under water. Unfortunately, the impact this had on the town was a major population decrease which happened well before the year 2000 which was quoted in the article. Also note that in July 2008, Mark Twain Lake was at full flood capacity of 649 feet to keep pressure off the Mississippi river, which at the time was being inundated with much rain. Normal pool for Mark Twain Lake is 606 feet. With 43 extra feet of water for a town that sits nearly on the water, this nearly capsized Florida, Missouri and explains the 0 population of 2010 just two years later. This information can be found by checking with the St. Louis Corp of Engineers Mark Twain Lake Project Office in Monroe City, Missouri at 573-735-4097. Simply stated, this town did not die on it's own. But there are many care takers who do oversee some of the historic buildings there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.29.81.52 (talk) 06:48, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
