English: African American seaman Harry Jones is enumerated patient no. 35 on this 1814 Register of Patients, Naval Hospital Washington. Register states "Harry Jones black boy wound Bladensburg". "Boy" in this context, was a reference to rank. Boys in early navy were simply young sailors in training ages 12 to 18.
