I have tried to improve the prose and add some details in a few sections. This article needs lots and lots of work, starting with references. If I have time over the holiday, I will try to find some. A basic government text should work for some areas. As this article stands now, it might be more appropriate for the Simple Wikipedia. Also, though I haves spent much time looking, it seems the navigational hierarchy and linking of some legal articles are missing or confusing. In the "Presentation of Evidence" section it says "The closing statements are given in the same order, with the defense going last." I believe this is incorrect. In every courtroom drama I have ever seen, the defense presents closing arguments first and the prosecution last.Dwight Burdette (talk) 13:37, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Since posting my previous suggestion I did some more resarch and found that generally the prosecution presents closing arguments first, the defense next, followed by a prosecution rebuttal. Additionally, the article said that in some jurisdictions, the defense goes first followed by the prosectution. Therefore, I suggest the article be revised to reflect the other possibilities.
