Summary

Description
English: The Permelia Eastman Cook Hall was built in 1939-40 for Storer College, a historically black college in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, that operated from 1867 to 1955. The last new building constructed for the college, it was built in the Colonial Revival style using local stones. It housed the college's physics laboratory and home economics department. The building, along with the rest of the Storer campus, was purchased by the National Park Service in 1959, was renovated in 1962-63, and initially served as a dormitory. It now serves as office space for the NPS's Harpers Ferry Center, including for the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. (Description sources: NPS and LOC)
