  • Support Wiki:MOSCAPS states: Military ranks follow the same capitalization guidelines as titles (see above). Thus, one would write "Brigadier General John Smith", or "John Smith was a brigadier general". While general use of ranks is most commonly in front of an officer's name, in article form, and grammar, ranks are not capitalized. The U.S. Code of law also use standardized grammar specifically 10 U.S.C. § 3281 which establishes regular ranks for federal uniformed officers. Neovu79 (talk) 03:20, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Four star Generals

Under the section "Famous American Lieutenant Generals," isn't it kind of silly to have all these guys who went on to four or five stars? Obviously, at some point, they were lieutenant generals. You could just as easily put them under "Famous American 2nd Lieutenants" or "Famous American Colonels." This should probably be limited to people whose careers topped off at Lieutenant General, or in the case of someone like Washington, was one, but was posthumously promoted. Grant I would keep too, because until they created a new rank in 1866, as a Lieutenant General he had gone as far as he could go. --Nobunaga24 02:33, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested edit/addition

I'm not good with technology & don't know how to edit wikipedia let alone know any of its guidelines or etiquette, but I'd like to suggest adding Lieutenant General Kenneth L Tallman, USAF, who was also president of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for years after Air Force retirement.
