"It is an exogamous clan system with only two clans." Well, no. It is an exogamous clan system, with either:

• two clans, each called a moiety;
• four clans, each called a section; formed by splitting a moiety in two; or
• eight clans, each called a subsection; formed by splitting a section in two.

At least in Australia.
