Edson is an unincorporated community in Sherman County, Kansas, United States.[1] As of the 2020 census, the population of the community and nearby areas was 17.[2] Edson is located near Interstate 70, 9 miles (14 km) east of Goodland.
History
Edson was named for settler Ed Harris, and his son.[3] The first post office in Edson was established in 1888.[4] The ZIP code is 67733.[5]
Edson was a station and shipping point on the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad.[6]

2020 census
The 2020 United States census counted 17 people, 12 households, and 5 families in Edson.[8][9] The population density was 24.1 per square mile (9.3/km2). There were 12 housing units at an average density of 17.0 per square mile (6.6/km2).[9][10] The racial makeup was 100.0% (17) white or European American (100.0% non-Hispanic white), 0.0% (0) black or African-American, 0.0% (0) Native American or Alaska Native, 0.0% (0) Asian, 0.0% (0) Pacific Islander or Native Hawaiian, 0.0% (0) from other races, and 0.0% (0) from two or more races.[11] Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.0% (0) of the population.[12]
Of the 12 households, 8.3% had children under the age of 18; 41.7% were married couples living together; 16.7% had a female householder with no spouse or partner present. 58.3% of households consisted of individuals and 33.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.[9] The average household size was 1.4 and the average family size was 1.7.[13] The percent of those with a bachelor’s degree or higher was estimated to be 0.0% of the population.[14]
0.0% of the population was under the age of 18, 0.0% from 18 to 24, 17.6% from 25 to 44, 47.1% from 45 to 64, and 35.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 57.8 years. Education
The community is served by Goodland USD 352 public school district.[15]
Edson schools were closed through school unification. The Edson Rockets[16] won the Kansas State High School boys class BB Track & Field championship in 1965. [17]
