English: This is a digital image of the painting. The painting was attributed to a painter Wiseman and was painted in the early-1800s. Details of the painting are found on the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in Tennessee website, url=http://www.tnportraits.org/graham-gen-joseph.htm The portrait has been passed down through generations. It is also depicted in The North Carolina Portrait Index (1700-1860), which was compiled by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in North Carolina.

During the American Revolution, Joseph Graham served as a Captain and Major in the North Carolina State Legion and the Lincoln County Regiment of the North Carolina militia. He was selected as a Brigadier General during the War of 1812 to lead a unit of South and North Carolina militia.
