I wonder if it’s relevant to point out the number of soldiers from Davie County who served in the Confederate Army? Given that Davie County has voted Republican at all but three Presidential elections since 1884 – in one of the three exceptions the Republican Party was divided – the county must have had some Unionist sentiment and been a potential source of some of the 25,000 white North Carolinians who are believed to have served in the Union Army. luokehao, May 17, 2017, 05:18 (UTC)
