Not Hebrew?

What does it mean that he knows Latin and Greek "but not Hebrew"? It sounds almost like an insinuation. I'm sure there are lots of other languages he doesn't speak. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hostile17 (talk • contribs) 03:35, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. This statement is silly and pointless. There are plenty of Classically trained educators that do not know Hebrew. Modern classical education does not require proficiency in Hebrew. I am removing it. --Ian Struan (talk) 18:24, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Traditionally, if you wanted to study theology or biblical topics, you needed to know Greek, Latin, and Hebrew.98.110.116.220 (talk) 02:14, 16 September 2012 (UTC)Hans Wurst[reply]

John Leonard

The John Leonard Wikiref transports you to an article about someone in Australia. It is supposed to be a connection to the former editor of the New York Times Book Review.66.82.9.59 19:52, 23 January 2007 (UTC)YourPenpal[reply]

Garry

Why does his Christian name have a redundant "r"? Is it a nickname? Was he named after an ancestor? What effect did his odd name have on the course of his life?Lestrade (talk) 13:28, 3 June 2011 (UTC)Lestrade[reply]

"His biography of president Richard M. Nixon, Nixon Agonistes (1970) landed him on the master list of Nixon political opponents.[citation needed]"

Are we sure that Wills was on Nixon's enemies list? Maybe I'm blind, but where? Btw, "Nixon Agonistes" was sympathetic and sometimes admiring of Nixon, so it would be good to confirm that the book is why Wills was on the list, if he indeed was on it.Rich Peterson199.33.32.40 (talk) 21:14, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Addition

Shouldn't we include his disapproval of the misogyny present in church teachings and history in the religion section? 24.44.75.217 (talk) 07:19, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Garry Wills' religion

He seems to claim that he follows the correct form of the People of The Book Christians interpretation in Islam, according to a clip of him speaking at the Chicago Humanities Festival on YouTube (See https://youtu.be/h6NWfVWxqSM; 23:50) Emperor 357 (talk) 09:59, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Emperor_357[reply]
