NYC and Sydney

This article lists Sydney, Australia as a sister city of New York City, yet [1] does not mention Sydney at all. Which source of information is incorrect or out of date?--Just James 20:48, 26 October 2006 (GMT+10:00)

Flag icons

Where flag icons have been added to sister city names, I have created bulleted lists, as I found the original format of flags in a line of text hard to read. Additional formatting such as columns might be useful, if a significant number of entries start having flag icons. --Ken Gallager 18:37, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paterson NJ's sister cities?

Hello Can anyone tell me the names of Paterson NJ's sister cities? I looked and they are not mentioned in this list a long with many other cities who i know have sister cities, for example Newark NJ. Thanks --Javierbaires1 01:45, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Javierbaires1[reply]

Check out this webpage, which list these cities: Newark: Aveiro, Portugal Banjul, Gambia Douala, Cameroon Freeport, Bahamas Monrovia, Liberia Kumasi, Ghana Porto Alegre, Brazil Xuzhou, China https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmXoypizjW3WknFiJnKLwHCnL72vedxjQkDDP1mXWo6uco/wiki/List_of_twin_towns_and_sister_cities_in_the_United_States.html

External links only?

Wouldn't it be easier if we just pasted the *.gov, *.us, etc. URLs on this page that we are using as source rather than typing them in ourselves? —Tokek 12:00, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shreveport, LA - Quimper, France?

My French teacher told me that these are sister cities, and I wanted to know if it was true.

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of sister cities in the United States's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "sistercities":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 00:37, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List is out of date OR lacking citations OR ?

This article/list states in the lead that "A searchable, interactive list is maintained by Sister Cities International." If that is meant to imply the Wikipedia list is the same as SCI, then there's a problem: Wikipedia's list is out of date, and almost by definition will virtually always be out of date. Why not just refer to the original? On the other hand, if that's just one of a series of sources for sister cities, the problem is that we're lacking citations for some cities. For example, there are no current sources for any place in Nevada (and I see no reaosn to believe that the current entries are correct); thus, all references should be removed. Does anyone know what this list is supposed to be composed of? --Larry (talk) 00:09, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To further confuse the issue, it turns out that the web site for Sister Cities International is internally inconsistent. The interactive search tool sometimes misses info found in the 84 page document (available as a pdf). For example, Reno, Nevada appears in the pdf but not the search tool. Thanks to @Onel5969: for telling me about this! I've sent an email to SCI about Reno, Nevada, just to make sure. Unless they email me back in the next few days, I've re-add the sister cities for Reno -- but note that the list that used to be in the Wikipedia Article differs from that from on the SCI website, so I'll have to update the Wiki info. --Larry (talk) 23:42, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling

(moved from my talk page, where it can be of no use. --Sapphorain (talk) 16:46, 20 September 2020 (UTC))[reply]

First, I get corrected for not fixing spelling, then I get corrected for fixing them. I just can't win here. For the record, MOS:SIC says insignificant spelling and typographic errors should simply be silently corrected. I personally disagree with it, but that's the guideline. kennethaw88talk 16:15, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

But this was neither an insignificant spelling error nor an insignificant typographic error. And there was a [sic], as MOS:SIC recommends, which you (silently) suppressed. --Sapphorain (talk) 16:46, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please explain how this is not an exact example of an insignificant error. Someone left out an 's', and there's no way that 'Missisippi' could be confused with anything else. Nor is it intentional (no:Mississippi). It's a simple misspelling, and the MOS suggests just fixing it. kennethaw88talk 03:29, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Someone left out an "s" in every one of the five occurrences of the word in this source [2]. So this is not insignificant, and it is very hard to believe it is unintentional.--Sapphorain (talk) 09:36, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever. I don't know why I ever bothered trying to read and follow the MOS. kennethaw88talk 19:17, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
