This is absolutely biased.

Instead of simply posting what you would wish for the public to see, lets get some facts. This page has absolutely no sources and does not live up to wikipedia's standards of writing or formatting. This seems like an advertisment.

totally revamped

I've completely overhauled this page. It now contains actual facts.

Please don't vandalize

Someone added paragraphs about students being bullied and rules not being enforced. He also added that Bolles never expels students from wealthy families and doesn't enforce its honor code. Someone clearly had a bad experience at the middle school and is continuing to grind his axe on this page. Whoever you are (and you keep posting anonymously, you coward), I will continue to remove your posts about "hours of free time" and students bullying one another, because they're extremely POV. Still NPOV

Passages like this:

The school has had significant success in academic competitions. Bolles perennially ranks among the best in state and national Spanish, French, and German competitions. Bolles's top math students have a history of distinguishing themselves at the local, state, and national level in competitions like Mu Alpha Theta. The school's engineering team perennially ranks among the top ten nationwide in competitions like JETS.

are NPOV paragraphs that do not objectively compare Bolles to anything. Actual numbers instead of vague phrasing like "perennially among the best" would help. dcandeto 21:53, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dorms?

I'm from the Jacksonville area. When I was younger, whenever I would be bad, my mother would say, "Shape up or you're going to The Bolles!" Of course, this would elicit sobs from me since my mother told me that The Bolles was a school where the kids lived in dorms and didn't go home for most of the week. Is this still true? Mike H. Something like 10% of the Upper School boards at Bolles, so yeah, they do live in dorms, and stay there year-round, like with any boarding prep school. There's also an option to board during the week and go home on the weekends (usually for people who live in Florida or Georgia, but relatively far from Jacksonville). By all accounts the living quarters for boarders are very nice. Of course, the vast majority of students are only day students. -Hpanic7342 14:52, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As a recent, former alum, I can tell you that there are a number of borders, but none of them local. The vast majority of borders were foreign students, so of course they boarded. Local students never boarded. -RajlGT

Jeb Bush

Jeb Bush (the younger one) certainly went to Bolles and graduated in 2002. His article even says so, so I don't know why someone decided to remove him from the "Notable Alumni" section. I've put him back on there. Hpanic7342 16:01, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you wrote an article about yourself, assuming you are not notable, the article would be eligible for deletion immediately (and would not last long on Wikipedia). Whether he's done anything that you deem notable or not is not the point; there is an article about him, and it has not been deleted. Jeb Bush, Jr. is unworthy of listing but it pertains to the status of the school that the Governor of Florida placed his son here, so that should be in the text not the list.

The long list of notable alumni comprises mainly Olympic swimmers and NFL football players. Perhaps they should be segregated. Are there no multi-star Generals and Admirals? Anyway the list or its sublists should be in alphabetical order. --P64 (talk) 17:18, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that Jeb Bush should be taken off the list because because he hasn't done anything notable except being born. A couple of changes

Somebody changed the numbers of Bolles faculty with certain degrees, but that was information that I got straight from the school's website. If you want to provide evidence for why those numbers should be changed, go ahead, but don't just change them randomly. Also, the bit about community service was changed unnecessarily to a negative slant, and I reverted it back to my wording. Anyone who's ever been anywhere near Bolles knows that the school emphasizes community service among its students, and to say that it "emphasizes sports more than community service" is unverifiable and reeks of sour grapes. - Hpanic7342 04:49, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Art Section

Something about this section makes it seem...written by someone who goes to the school and doesn't really have much useful to say. Maybe it's the use of words like extensive and range. In any case, there are only two sentences here, and expansion would be nice. The rest of the section is garbage. Anyone can see that it doesn't do much to explain the art program, and I go to Bolles, and I'm sure the school does not advertise these beliefs. October 2010

I've gutted a lot of this article to remove the weasel wordage and school boosterism. I removed irrelevant sections such as publishing the school's code. I've also added a slew of fact tags for things that look like they may be easily citeable, but the article needs a lot of work. There is currently very little real information about the institution. Additionally, someone above suggested that parts of the article are copied directly from the school's own publications; if this is true it would be a copyright violation and needs to be removed.--Cúchullain t/c 16:16, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bartram School for Girls

Jacksonville Times-Union: search "Bartram School for Girls".

Somehow this school should be in the article. Evidently the private Bartram School for Girls became the Bartram campus for girls. Was that when Bolles reportedly went co-ed, 1971? Evidently Bartram was also established in the 1930s —or its campus rebuilt then. According to his jacksonville.com obituary, Architect Clyde Eugene Harris won the contract to build it, which enabled him to marry in 1939.[1] --P64 (talk) 17:32, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Military

"It dropped its military focus in 1962." This is absolutely false; I live little more than a mile from the main Bolles campus, and the school was still boys-only and military when I graduated from a near-by public high school in 1968.
