I'm certainly not from the area at all, but it looks to me on a map that the southern terminus is technically at an intersection with U.S. 1. Does anyone know better? Eweisser 16:38, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This is like saying that the Connecticut River follows US 5! US 5 was there first and the turnpike constructed with that knowledge and towns that thrived as the result of the establishment of US 5. Holyoke and Northampton do not share a common border; the City of Easthampton sits in between for maybe a thousand feet. Looking at maps.google.com or maps.bing.com shows a section of US 5 named "North St" -- that section is in Easthampton. The intersection between US 5 and East St. is in Easthampton. The Oxbow just to the north is in Northampton. The county line to the south shows the border between Easthampton and Holyoke.

Is the intent of the table to list all municipalities in Massachusetts through which Rt. 5 travels, or is it just to list municipalities with major intersections? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.2.55.132 (talk) 19:18, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
