National Graves Registration Project
The SUVCW National Graves Registration Project, established in 1996, has grown through the dedication of hundreds of volunteers both within and beyond our Order. These individuals have devoted thousands of hours visiting cemeteries, recording and verifying information, researching service records, and documenting the final resting places of Civil War veterans.
From the outset, however, one critical element was missing: a way for the SUVCW, and the general public, to search and view the results of this work online. As registrations increased, it became clear that duplication of effort was becoming unavoidable. Without a centralized, accessible system showing what had already been completed and what still required investigation, valuable time and energy were being lost.
